Hanson
City of Little Canada
515 Little Canada Road
Little Canada, Minnesota 55117 -1600
Dear Mr. Hanson:
February 12, 1993
SUBJECT: Saint Paul Water Utility Conservation Program
In 1993, the Saint Paul Water Utility plans to expand on a Water
Conservation Pilot Project which was conducted in 1992. The 1992
project included retrofitting 19 single family homes, six
duplexes and three apartment buildings (12 -20 units each) with
water saving plumbing devices. The results obtained from this
study were encouraging (see attached program summary).
Our 1993 Water Conservation Project includes expanding on what
was done in 1992 but also modifying the program to reflect what
was learned in the first project. One area that has good
potential water savings are apartment buildings. We feel that
apartment owners will be eager to participate in a large scale
program (at their own cost) once they see sufficient data that
shows the substantial cost savings that can be realized after a
retrofit of their toilet and showers.
For this reason, we would like to include two 10 -15 unit
apartment buildings located in Little Canada in our 1993 program.
The retrofits would be done free of charge by the Environment and
Energy Resource Center (EERC). They will contact apartment owners
throughout the City and determine which ones are good candidates
for a retrofit. Again, the main reason for the 1993 retrofit is
4TH FLOOR CITY HALL ANNEX -ST. PAUL, MINNESOTA 55102
Page 59
SAINT
PAVN.
4
ANNA
