This may be discussed at tonight's meeting.
April 12, 1993
TO: CDBC GRANTEES
FROM: RAMSEY COUNTY DEPT. OF COMMUNITY AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
SUBJ: REVISED INCOME LIMITS FOR MINNEAPOLIS -SAINT PAUL METROPOLITAN AREA
Maximum income levels by household size were recently revised and published by the U.S.
Department of Housing and Urban Development. The median income for the metropolitan area
is now $49,600 (a decrease of $1400 over that published in 5/92 which was $4000 more than
4/91). The income level for a household of four has dropped by $2000.
In order to address the federal objective, benefit to low and moderate income persons,
projects must principally benefit those whose incomes by household size are no higher than
80 percent of the area median (low income). Some CDBG sponsored projects target
households at 50 percent of the area median (very low income) and those figures are also
provided as follows:
INCOME BY HOUSEHOLD SIZE
1 Person 2 Persons 3 Persons 4 Persons 5 Persons 6 Persons 7 Persons 8 Persons
VERY LOW INCOME (50 PERCENT OF MEDIAN)
$17,350 $19,850 $22,300 $24,800 $26,800 $28,750 $30,750 $32,750
LOW INCOME (80 PERCENT OF MEDIAN)
$27,800 $31,750 $35,700 $39,700 $42,850 $42,850 $46,050 $52,400
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have questions regarding these income limits
and verifying household income. You may use these increased ceilings for any assistance
provided after May 10, 1993. Note: Decreases in income limits do not affect the
eligibility of those already receiving HUD /CDBG housing assistance.
Page 1
TOT -_ P. nT,
