Hanson
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jim LaValle
Steve Morelan
Bob Pedersen
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
At the direction of the City Council at their June 23rd meeting, I
have contacted the cities of Maplewood and Roseville regarding
recreation administration fees. As you are aware, Little Canada is
currently charging $1.50 per registrant to off -set a portion of
administration costs.
According to Doug Taubman at Maplewood, no direct charge is added to
registration fees for youth and senior programs to cover
administration costs. (They have very few senior programs.)
Programs are run on a break -even basis, exclusive of administration
costs. Administration costs are absorbed by the General Parks &
Recreation Budget.
In discussing administration fees with Mark Pat Black of Roseville,
she indicated that Roseville adds a $3.00 administration fee to each
registration for both youth and adult programs. A $10.00 admin. fee
is added to adult team registrations, when an adult team is
registered as an entire team. This fee was initiated when the Parks
and Recreation Department moved to the Ralph Reeder School for the
purpose of offsetting the cost of the building. The additional
revenue is not used to offset salaries.
cc: Park and Recreation Commission
Raw 117
