A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A POLICY ON AIRLINE TRAVEL
WHEREAS,
The City infrequently has employees, elected or appointed officials
traveling on airlines at City expense; and
WHEREAS,
Many airlines do not offer corporate credit or benefit plans for
flying that allow individual travel to be grouped; and
WHEREAS,
The value of frequent flyer bonus miles is minimal to the City and is
determined by the City Council to have a value not in excess of
$20.00 for each round trip flight;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE
CANADA
That Council declares whenever the City pays for airline travel by an
elected or appointed official or City employee, such official or
employee shall advise the City Administrator within 90 days of the
receipt of any credit or benefit for flying on a ticket purchased at
City expense, and the City Administrator shall report to the City
Council on any such reports of credit or benefit; and
When an official or employee flies on an airline using a ticket
purchased by the City (including where the official or employee is
reimbursed by the City for such ticket), the official or employee
shall not be obligated to seek to obtain credit or benefit from the
airline on which the travel takes place and no report shall be
required if no such credit or benefit is sought for City paid airline
travel. In the event the official or employee does obtain credit or
benefit from the airline for flying, such official or employee shall
pay to the City the sum of $20.00 for each ticket purchased at City
expense.
Page 94
