Mayor & City Council
Facility Charge Schedule
Page 2
Roseville:
Exclusive use of pavillion. Five different shelters
available. All have picnic tables, grills, water, and
electric. Four have indoor bathrooms, two have kitchen
facilities.
Fees per half -day (9:00 am - 3:00 pm or 4:00 pm - 10:00 pm):
$35 or $50 depending on facility. Facilities with indoor
bathrooms and kitchens are $50.00. No different fee for
non - residents or corporations.
Maplewood:
No shelters available for picnic reservations.
Last year during the five months of May through September, a
total of thirty -three permits were issued for the two shelters
at Spooner Park on Saturdays and Sundays. This generated
$825.00 at $25.00 each. In addition, five weekend permits were
issued to groups and organizations within the city, with no fee
collected.
In most cases, the shelters that we are able to provide in
Spooner Park are smaller than most of the shelters that are
available elsewhere. In view of the above comparisons of other
cities and Ramsey County to our park facilities, I propose to
continue the charge of $25.00 per day per shelter, for both
residents and non - residents. Fees will not be charged to any
city- sponsored groups, local youth groups, athletic groups, and
local community service organizations. Local churches and other
local groups or organizations which have an on -going cooperative
agreement with the city parks and rec department for shared
services and /or facilities will also be exempt from the fee.
I also plan to continue to monitor use of these facilities and
if the demand begins to exceed our shelter availability, I will
consider changes in the fee structure and recommend same for
council approval.
It should also be noted that some of the neighboring cities also
have a fee for reserving ballfields. These fees are structured
primarily for those wishing to reserve fields for tournament
play. Since our present policy allows no tournaments to be
played on our fields, other than city sponsored organizations
and the Little Canada Rec Association, I feel this fee does not
need to be addressed.
I submitted the fore - mentioned policy to the Parks and
Recreation Commission at their last meeting on June 17, 1993 and
received their unanimous approval.
Page 88
