MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
AUGUST 28, 2013
maintaining For Sale Signs on the property to see if any offers are
received, etc.
The Administrator pointed out that he is currently obtaining quotes for
hazardous materials abatement. Once that abatement is done, the
structures will be removed from the property. Montour suggested that it
might be beneficial to wait until the structures are removed to remarket the
property.
The Administrator also suggested that the Council may want to review the
City's asking price as well as conditions and terms that were part of the
ITB package. The Administrator suggested that he put this matter on the
next Council agenda and include the ITB packet for Council review.
53 WOODLYN The City Administrator reviewed his report dated August 23, 2013
AVENUE noting that City Code requires that new electrical services be buried
POWERLINE underground. There is currently the need to upgrade the existing electrical
AGREEMENT service at 53 Woodlyn. The estimated cost to bury the upgraded services
ranges from $13,000 to $15,000 in comparison to $1,500 for an overhead
service.
The City Administrator reported that the City Code allows for exceptions.
He noted that given it is unlikely that power will ever be placed
underground in this area, City staff feels an exception can be made in this
case. However, in the event the unexpected happens, staff has prepared an
agreement that requires the tenant and /or property owner to be responsible
for those costs at that time.
It was noted that both the tenant and property owner have reviewed the
proposed agreement and are in agreement with it. The Administrator
indicated that the property owner has expressed his appreciation to the
City for their willingness to consider this matter. He also noted that the
new tenant has a five -year lease on this property and is a good company
that will provide jobs in the City.
Blesener introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 2013 -8- 151 — APPROVING THE AGREEMENT
RELATIVE TO THE POSSIBLE BURING OF ELECTRICAL
SERVICE AT 53 WOODLYNAVENUEASSUBMITTED BY THE
CITY ADMINISTRATOR AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND
CITYADMINSITRATOR TO EXECUTE ON BEHALF OF THE CITY
7
