Hanson
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jim LaValle
Steve Morelan
Bob Pedersen
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
Mr. Rue will again be present at Wednesday's meeting to
discuss his request to use the trapezoid piece of park
property adjacent to his building at 20 Yorkton Industrial
Court for parking and other recreational facilities. These
facilities would be placed to accommodate Trane Company.
While I understand the Council's concern about the
precedent this type of permit may set, I think the
following factors should also be considered:
* This request can be addressed with a license
agreement whereby any use permitted could be
discontinued at any time by the City of Little
Canada with the further requirement that the owner
remove any and all improvements made to the
property and restore it to the condition we find
appropriate. (The City Attorney can comment on
the legalities of this at Wednesday's meeting.)
* The costs associated with preparing and finalizing
the license agreement should be borne by the
requesting party.
* It may be possible to charge an annual fee
associated with the license agreement which could
be used to supplement other Parks and Recreation
needs.
* By granting this type of request, we would assist
an existing business (Trane Company) by providing
them with some parking expansion and other
facilities for their employees.
Page 25
