MINUTES <br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br />NOVEMBER 9, 1993 <br />ADJOURN <br />The Commission developed the following barriers to <br />updating the Comp Plan: <br />*Money; <br />*Commitment of people; <br />*That there is not a clear understanding of the <br />benefit of the Plan; <br />*Fear of what might be missed. Will all the issues <br />be addressed and a pattern of consistency developed. <br />*Adversity to change; <br />*Difficulty of implementing and enforcing. <br />Knudsen asked if the benefits of the existing Comp Plan <br />were ever evaluated. <br />Drabik felt the Comp Plan gave her a place to start in <br />her role as a Planning Commissioner. <br />The City Administrator pointed out that without the <br />Comp Plan, the Subdivision and Zoning Ordinance would <br />be invalid. <br />The City Administrator reported that the information <br />developed tonight will be given to the Council as a <br />basis for why the Comp Plan should be updated. The <br />Administrator pointed out the City Planner's estimate <br />of $17,500 for updating the Plan. <br />Knudsen recommended that the appropriate funding for <br />updating of the City's Comprehensive Plan be allocated <br />based on the priority that was given to this task at <br />the Council /Staff goal- setting session, and due to the <br />fact that the current Plan is outdated. <br />Motion seconded by Carson. <br />Motion carried 6 - 0. <br />Schletty recommended that the meeting be adjourned. <br />Motion seconded by Knudsen. <br />Motion carried 6 - 0. <br />There being no further business, the meeting was <br />adjourned at 9:15 P.M. <br />Respectfully submitted, <br />Kathy Glanzer <br />Recording Secretary <br />Page 13 <br />
