814. BUSINESS LICENSES 814.010. PURPOSE AND INTENT. The City Council finds that there are certain business, commercial and industrial enterprises within Little Canada which are not licensed, pursuant to other provisions of the Municipal Code. Such activities can involve possible danger to life and property, or create nuisances by being in violation of the Municipal Code, State or Federal regulations, or applicable fire codes. All such business, commercial and industrial enterprises operating in offices within the City of Little Canada in commercial and industrial zoning districts shall be required to obtain a license from the City to identify appropriately all such businesses and to otherwise promote the general health, welfare and safety of the residents of Little Canada. 814.020. APPLICATION. Applications for a business license shall be filed in writing with the City Clerk. Each such application shall contain the following information: (A) Name and resident's address of applicant or registered office if applicant is a corporation; (B) Name and address of place of business, and the kind of business to be carried on at said address; and (C) Such other information as the City Clerk may require. 814.030. LICENSE FEES. The fees for such business licenses shall be $10.00, unless a different amount is specifically provided for in the Council Resolution, on file in the office of the City Clerk. 814.040. RECEIPTS FOR FEES. Upon payment of such fee, the City Clerk shall prepare duplicate receipts therefor, one of which shall be delivered to the applicant, and the other shall be attached to and filed with the application for the license. 814.050. INVESTIGATION. Before granting or denying any license application, the Council may order such investigation of the applicant, the business, or proposed business, and the premises on which it is to be conducted, as it shall deem necessary. 814.060. DURATION. All licenses shall terminate on the 30th day of June following issuance thereof. 814.070. PRORATION OF LICENSE FEE. The license fee shall be prorated on a quarterly basis for any license for a period of less than 12 months. 814.080. COMPLIANCE DATE. All such businesses shall obtain said licenses within 45 days after the effective date of this Ordinance. Page 132 Page 34
