Hanson
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jim LaValle
Steve Morelan
Bob Pedersen
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
At our workshop of November 15, 1993, I recommended a list
of adjustments for your consideration. Based on the
discussion at the meeting, I would assume those adjustments
were to be implemented into the budget. However, I would
like to have that action ratified in order that I can begin
locking in numbers in some of the categories. The
adjustments I recommended were as follows:
* Adopt salary adjustments as proposed. Reduction
equals $1,818.
* Reduce fire marshall contracted service by $2,748.
* Reduce economic development budget by $5,000.
* Eliminate $1,500 budgeted expense for Canadian
Days coordinator.
* Transfer $3,500 proposed expenditure for fireworks
to 10% gambling account.
If you are in agreement with these recommendations, I would
ask that you ratify that fact and I will build these
savings into the budget.
In another budget topic, we did not discuss our
contribution to the Family Violence Network. As you know,
they have asked for a $5,000 contribution by the City of
Little Canada. Given the apparent need to make some
dramatic reductions in our budgeted expenditures due to a
precipitous decline in our tax capacity (see attached
sheets), I would recommend we not provide funding for this
program in 1994. This decision could be re- considered
Page 40
