2501. PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION 2501.010. ESTABLISHMENT OF COMMISSION. A Parks and Recreation Commission is hereby established to advise the City Council on Parks and Recreation related matters. The Commission will consist of up to seven (7) members to be appointed by the City Council. 2501.020. COMPOSITION. Applicants to the Commission shall be interviewed by the Mayor, any City Council Members wishing to participate in the interview process, the Chair or Vice Chair of the Commission, and the City Administrator. 2501.020. RESIDENT WITHOUT ELECTED OFFICE. Each member shall be a resident of the City who does not hold any elected office. 2501.030. TERM OF OFFICE, NUMBER OF TERMS, AND VACANCIES. Each member may serve for no more than three (3) consecutive three (3) year terms. VACANCIE2S. In case of vacancy during the term of office of any member of the Commission, the City Council shall appoint a new member to serve the remainder of the term. A vacancy shall exist if any of the following occur: death; residence outside of the City; resignation; and disability-or failure to serve; or removal from office. A failure to serve shall be deemed to exist if any member is absent from three consecutive meetings, or is absent from four meetings within a calendar year. A meeting shall be any scheduled regular meeting. The- previsions relating -te absences -from- e etreaetive Ianuary 1, 1997. There shall be no excused absences. 2501.035. REMOVAL FROM OFFICE. Commission members shall he subject to removal with er-- witbent cause by a majority vote of the City Council. 2501.040. COMPENSATION. Members of the Parks and Recreation Commission may receive compensation as the City Council may provide by resolution. 2501.050. ORGANIZATION AND MEETINGS. The Mayor shall annually recommend to the Council a member of the Commission to serve as Commission Chair. The Council shall then appoint a Chair. The Commission shall annually elect one member to serve as Chairperson and Vice Chairperson. The Vice Chairperson shall assume the Chairperson's responsibilities in that 2501 -1 5
