MINUTES OF THE MEETING <br />OF THE FIRE TRUCK COMMITTEE <br />APRIL 12, 1994 <br />6:00 P.M. <br />Those Present: Tom Ducharme, Jim Zietlow, Don Smiley, Joey <br />Vitale, Dick Boss, Ray Hanson, and Joel Hanson. <br />The Committee determined that the goal in proceeding with a truck <br />purchase is to have as much space as possible in useable <br />capacity. The Committee discussed and felt the following <br />specifications were necessary: <br />*A11 Aluminum (lighter and rust free); <br />*Air Conditioning (Cooling personnel during hot weather <br />fires); <br />*Better seating for personnel, more room for handling air <br />tanks; <br />*Top mount controls - operator safety for freeway fires; <br />*A & B foam capabilities - (A) gasoline, cars, etc. <br />(B) structures; <br />*Cab designed for personnel, shorter turning radius, etc.; <br />*Carries a lot of hose - 1,000' -5 ", 600' -3 ", 750'- 1.75 ", <br />200' of 3" pre - connect. It will serve as relay truck for <br />long runs and also will hook directly to siamese <br />connections at building fires with sprinklers.; <br />*No extra equipment needed for truck - they have everything <br />they need; <br />*Edgebar for lights for rear of truck to improve visibility <br />for added safety; <br />*Deluge 3" outlet for freeway use. Could be used on a <br />tanker fire. Allows more distance between truck and <br />burning item for improved safety.; <br />*Pump capacity - 2,000 GPM versus 1,500 GPM. (No additional <br />cost.) Engine is designed (6V92 -400 H.P.) to handle this <br />size pump.; <br />*Hydraulic ladder lift. Gets them on top of hose bed which <br />creates more possibilities for cabinet space. Also <br />better loading and unloading. <br />*Back of truck lengthened. Added more cabinet space. <br />*Roll -up access door in rear of truck. It accesses 500 lb. <br />capacity pull -out tray which will carry rescue equipment. <br />More efficient and faster. (Tray comes out of truck if <br />necessary.); <br />*Front -end water hook -up similar to many other trucks; <br />*Raised crew cab door to avoid hazards associated with <br />hitting heads. (Standard is 6'); <br />*No extras on this truck as far as fancy items. Everything <br />is needed.; <br />*Specs have been done to generate three bids; <br />*Custom and General don't bid against each other. General <br />will bid this truck.
