515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600
(612) 484 -2177 / FAX: (612) 484 -4538
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Hanson & Members of the City Council
FROM: Dave Harris, Public Works Superintendent
DATE: April 22, 1994
RE: Pedestrian Plan
MAYOR
Raymond G. Hanson
COUNCIL
Beverly Scaize
Jim LaValle
Steve Morelan
Bob Pedersen
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
The Pedestrian Plan Committee, consisting of Joel Hanson, Jim
Morelan, and myself, has held several meetings on the Pedestrian
Plan. The attached map shows a proposed pedestrian system as a
result of those meetings and also incorporates the comments of
the Parks & Recreation Commission. (I have attached a copy of
the minutes of the Parks & Recreation Commission regarding the
Pedestrian Plan for your review.)
At this time, the only changes that should be considered would be
whether the path along Jackson Street to Australian Avenue which
then goes back down to Lakeshore Avenue and out to Little Canada
Road should be a sidewalk or an on- street path. We would
recommend that Australian be an on- street path at this time with
the balance to be a sidewalk /off- street path. We would also like
to see that path incorporated with the Jackson /Old Co. Rd.
C /Lakeshore road project. Also, Lake Street was not included in
this plan based on the comments made at the improvement hearing.
This is in contrast to the Parks & Recreation Commission's
recommendation.
If you have any questions regarding the plan, please feel free to
contact Joel, Jim or myself with any questions.
DBH:kpv
Enclosure
Page 135
