Hanson COUNCIL Beverly Scalze Jim LaValle Steve Morelan Bob Pedersen ADMINISTRATOR Joel R. Hanson Please find attached a copy of the 1994 Fire Department contract. You will note that the Fire Department has signed off on this document. The major changes are as follows: * Paragraph #6 provides for an accounting of expenses for the year completed. I contemplated asking for an audit in this regard, but was informed that the Fire Department does not audit its normal operations. Given the nature of their budget, I would agree that an audit does not make sense. * Paragraph #9 addresses title of the fire trucks. It also talks about disposition of assets. It is my belief that this provision provides adequate protection to both the City and the Fire Department to ensure that resources are being properly protected. * Paragraph #11 addresses the Five -year Capital Improvement Plan. In this paragraph, the City is acknowledging our responsibility to purchase and fund items as identified and prioritized. * Paragraph #12 provides for the purchase of a new fire truck in accordance with recent Council direction. It is my belief that this contract document does a much better job of addressing accountability and the mutual relationship which must exist between the Fire Department and the City in order to provide service to our residents.
