MINUTES
City Council
Sept. 10, 1986
Time Mr. Fahey asked Time if he were interested in a cul -de -sac.
Property
(Cont.) Time replied that he was not.
The Planner reported that a T- intersection would not provide
legal access to the Tima property under the ordinance.
Fahey agreed that the T- intersection did not comply with
the requirements of the ordinance and stated that he would
prefer the cul -de -sac. Fahey stated that the City is willing
to work with 'lr. Time if he wants to proceed.
Mr. Tom Judd, Mr. Tima's son -in -law, pointed out that if Mr.
Time were to block off his property, it would create a hardship
because cars would not be able to turn around an the end of
Australian.
Mr. Fahey pointed out that the City has the power to condemn
property if it is needed in the public's interest.
Mr. Judd stated that he just wanted to point out that Mr. Tima's
property is being used for a turn - around. Judd stated that the
Planner was previously instructed to work with Mr. Tima and work
out a solution to the problem that would be satisfactory to both
the City and Mr. Tima. This has not been done.
Tima stated that he is willing to dedicate 7 feet of his property
to the City to make a wider T- intersection.
The Engineer stated that he worked out a drawing of a T- intersection,
however, after tonight's discussion he can see that some modifications
will have to be made to his proposal.
Judd pointed out that the development of the end of Australian effects
the rest of the citizens in Little Canada and not just Mr. Tima.
Fahey suggested that the Planner and Engineer get together with
Mr. Time and that the matter should be brought back to the Council
when there is an indication from either !r. Tima or the Engineer
that a proposal is ready for Council consideration.
Recess At this point in the meeting, 9 :11 p.1., Council took a short recess.
The meeting was reconvened at 9:20 P.A.
Election Mr. Fahey proposed that the City's sign ordinance be amended to allow
Signs for larger election signs. Fahey reported that he has spoken with
sign companies and was informed that standard -sized election signs
Agenda are 8 square feet and 16 square feet. These are the sizes allowed
Addition in most other cities.
Pane -12-
Page 37
