JOB DESCRIPTION <br />Position Title: Parkkeeper <br />Department: Public Works <br />Accountable to: Public Works Superintendent <br />Primary Obiective of Position: <br />Develop and implement an on -going parks and City owned grounds <br />maintenance program to ensure facilities are well groomed, clean, <br />and in a general condition which creates a positive impression of <br />the City. Will involve identification of work activities, <br />planning for their completion, supervision of part -time and <br />seasonal personnel assigned to park maintenance activities, and <br />direct involvement in daily maintenance efforts. <br />Major Areas of Accountability: <br />1. Turf maintenance activities including mowing, <br />fertilizing, aeration, weed eradication and <br />establishment. <br />2. Operating and maintaining in- ground irrigation systems <br />including field repairs and adjustments to ensure <br />proper watering of grounds. <br />3. Building and shelter custodial activities including <br />cleaning, maintenance and repair activities to ensure <br />proper operation of facilities. <br />4. Prepares athletic fields for scheduled events and <br />activities including dragging, lining, and grading. <br />5. Maintains athletic courts including tennis, volleyball, <br />and basketball. <br />6. Install, inspect, and repair all play equipment to <br />ensure its safe and efficient operation. Keeps records <br />of those inspections and repairs. <br />7. Removes snow from streets, park trails, sidewalks, <br />parking lots, building entrances and steps. <br />8. Ensure proper operation and maintenance of all power <br />equipment and tools as a result of activities <br />associated with this position. <br />9. Construct and install special projects as directed <br />(i.e., erecting bleachers, replacing hockey boards, <br />-1- <br />Page 41 <br />
