MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
SEPTEMBER 8, 1994
Knudsen felt that the barbed wire would only be a
nuisance to a professional thief.
Mrs. McCumber felt that the barbed wire would slow down
the thieves so that the Sheriff could catch them.
DeLonais stated that he would like to see an alarm
system on the storage area.
Mrs. McCumber reported that they are looking into alarm
systems, but it is time- consuming and a system will be
expensive. McCumber pointed out that the storage area
is very well lit.
McCumber felt that he followed the process correctly in
that he called City Hall and asked before putting up
the barbed wire.
Davison felt that a gate system at the property
entrance was needed.
McCumber reported that he is working with the Sheriff
on another type of barrier to slow down traffic through
the site. This will be presented to the City in the
future.
Keis did not feel it was up to the Planning Commission
to provide solutions for the problems at the site. The
Commission should be acting on the issue before them.
Mrs. McCumber again indicated that they were told that
the barbed wire was permitted.
Mr. Garske recommended approval of the Conditional Use
Permit for special purpose fence allowing barbed wire
on top of a storage enclosure fence which is adjacent
to a residential area as requested by Mr. Ed McCumber
for property located at 608 East County Road D on the
basis that the Light - Industrial development existed
prior to the Residential development.
Motion seconded by Schletty.
Motion failed 3 - 3. Garske, Schletty, and DeLonais
voted in favor. Davison, Knudsen, and Keis voted
against.
8
Page 11
