RAMSEY COUNTY
RE -, L. _a o . 1 ,3 al
Department of Public Works
Paul L. Rice Street
Shoreview, MN 55126
(612) 484 -9104 • Fax 482 -5232
The Ramsey County Public Works Department has received the request
from the City of Little Canada to evaluate the need for an all -way
stop at the intersection of Keller Parkway and Lakeside Court.
The intersection is . of standard three -leg design. Currently the
Lakeside Court approach to the intersection stops for both
approaches of Keller Parkway. The posted speed limit on Keller
Parkway and Lakeside Court is 30 miles per hour. Lakeside Court is a
cul -de -sac which serves approximately ten homes.
A review of accidents over the period January 1990 through the
present indicate zero accidents occurred at this intersection over
the 4 1/2 year period.
Traffic volume approach counts taken in July 1994 indicate
sufficient volumes are not present to warrant the installation of an
all -way stop as per the Minnesota Manual on Uniform Traffic Control
Devices. The stop control is warranted for zero hours and eight
hours are required for installation. All -way stop control is
recommended at intersections where the volume of traffic on all
approaches is approximately equal. In this case the approach volume
on Lakeside Court is very minor compared to that of Keller Parkway
(the traffic volume on Keller Parkway was 2600 vehicles per day
compared to 107 vehicles per day on Lakeside Court).
Because the installation of an all -way stop at this intersection is
not warranted by either traffic volumes or accidents, it is
recommended that the existing controls be retained. If you have any
questions regarding this traffic study feel free to give me a call
at 482 -5209.
Sincerely,
F.
Daniel E.
