GILANDERf,LANE WATER MAIN IMPROVEMENT PROJECT
Citizen Information Meeting
November 22, 1994 6:30 pm
PROJECT SUMMARY
Scope: To provide City water to the residents on Gilander Lane.
Cost: $64,500
Revenue:
The City has recently adopted a new policy for assessing water main, limiting
assessments to approximately $4,600 per buildable lot.
Assessments to residents = $4,600/lot x 7 Lots = $32,200
City cost = $32,300
$64,500 ti 2
This includes replacing the drive /street roughly as is (16 feet wide, 6 inches of gravel, qt
3 inches of bituminous).
OTHER RELATED ISSUES
1) Should the street be made public at this time and improved to City standards (in
this case, 28 foot wide with curb and gutter)? Since the current street surface will
be removed in order to install the water main, this will be an opportunity to improve
the street. To become a public street, some residents would need to dedicate right -
of -way to the City.
2) Should a cul -de -sac be built to assist the City in snow removal?
If a 28 foot wide street is built to City minumum standards with concrete curb and gutter,
costs and revenue would be approximately as follows:
Total cost of water main and street: $94,600
Total cost of street portion: $62,100
Fi age 146
