Commander Jerry Bergeron
Ramsey County Sheriffs Department
655 W. County Rd. E
Shoreview, Mn. 55126
Re: Lincoln Pawn & Jewelry
2750 Rice Street
Sir:
I have had the Pawn Shop detail for the past 21/2 years. During this time I have always received
complete cooperation from the owners and their employe's.
.Although we have recovered some stolen property the amount is vexy low in comparison to the
number of transactions that they do.
One example of their cooperation is the implementation of a computerized system for me to keep
track of the transactions. I am sent a paper copy of all their transactions on a daily basis, These
are used to check through WIC for stolen property. I also go there once or twice a. month at
which time they down load their computer onto a disc which I then load into my computer. With
this system I am able to check names, items and serial numbers that other Deputies request and
also check teletypes from other agency's.
Lincoln Pawn was very helpful in setting up this system and cooperated fully through their
programmer and ours to do this.
One request Lincoln Pawn has asked was in their holding period. They are now required to hold
items for 120 days. Most other Pawn Shops that I am aware of are required to hold for only 30
days. I have discussed this with them and told them I felt a holding period of 60 days would
work for us but that 30 days was to short. They were receptive of my input. •
Overall I have had a very good relationship with Lincoln Pawn and Jewelry and have no
problems when dealing with them.
Larry anke
General Investigations
Ramsey County Sheriffs Department
Z'd
Page 45
OS3d WtJ70:60 466 91 33Q
