also adding the intervention of the Fire Marshall in the <br />case of excessive fire alarms (more than four within 365 <br />days) to ensure that public safety concerns are addressed <br />in a timely fashion. This option is in lieu of increasing <br />the false alarm fee for five or more alarms to a much <br />higher figure. (We initially considered a $2000 fee to <br />create the appropriate incentive for alarm system repairs.) <br />This ordinance has been forwarded to the City Attorney for <br />his comments. Pending his review staff is recommending the <br />revisions be adopted as presented. Should they be <br />approved, we would suggest that all addresses which had <br />been sent false alarm reports during the past two years be <br />forwarded a copy of this new ordinance for their <br />information to make them aware of the changes. <br />Should you have any comments or questions regarding this <br />matter, please let me know. <br />cc: Dick Boss, Fire Chief <br />John Palacio, Fire Marshall <br />JH /mg <br />Page 50 <br />
