The Sign Ordinance normally allows one
freestanding sign per principal use, but allows two for shopping
centers by Conditional Use Permit. This section of the Ordinance
also requires that only one freestanding sign maybe allowed on
each street frontage. A variance is required from that clause to
grant this Conditional Use Permit.
ANALYSIS
The Ordinance allows, by C.U.P., a second freestanding sign for a
shopping center complex when three conditions are met in addition
to the other standards for signs. These are:
1. Only one sign per street frontage and a minimum total of 500
linear, feet of frontage to qualify for 2 signs.
2. Signs must meet the 5 foot setback.
3 Neither of the two signs may be closer than 40 feet from an
intersection.
Page 10
5775 Wayzata Blvd. • Suite 555 St. Louis Park, MN 55416 (612) 595- 9636•Fax. 595 -9837
