515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600
(612) 484 -2177 / FAX: (612) 484 -4538
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Hanson & Members of the City Council
FROM: Joel Hanson, City Administrator
DATE: March 18, 1994
RE: Twin Lake Environmental Regulations
MAYOR
Raymond G. Hanson
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jim LaValle
Steve Morelan
Bob Pedersen
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
Howard Remerowski and Scott Wesch feel the City should pursue a
continued relationship with Vadnais Heights to jointly regulate
access and water usages on Twin Lake due to potentially serious
environmental consequences. Issues to be considered include boat
traffic, vehicular access during ice fishing season, litter
control, and runoff.
Irrespective of any development options for the Mitchell
property, we may want to consider contacting Vadnais Heights to
see if they have an interest in addressing these issues. While
they are interested in developing water access to the lake, I am
sure they are also concerned about environmental impact. This
would seem to be an opportunity to address potential problems
before they exist.
Should the Council wish to pursue this initiative, I should be
directed to send a letter to Vadnais Heights asking for their
cooperation in this regard.
JRH:kpv
