Hanson <br />TO: Mayor Hansen and Members of the City Council <br />FROM: Joel Hansen, City Administrator <br />DATE: January 17, 1994 <br />RE: Support of Afton Position in Regard to LMCIT Coverage <br />Attached is a letter received by the City of Afton which I am <br />presenting to you for your review and comment. As you will note, <br />Afton is asking that the League reimburse their elected officials <br />for the expenses incurred relative to defense of open meeting'law <br />claims. Also enclosed is LMCIT's position on this matter. <br />From an economic standpoint, I am not sure which position would <br />be of greater benefit to us relative to its impact on the <br />reserves of LMCIT. Therefore, I believe this is a policy <br />question the Council must answer. Perhaps the best way to look <br />at this issue is if our officials have been involved in this <br />case, how we would like it handled. <br />You may want to ask the City Attorney for his advice.
