Hanson Attached is information which was provided to the Park & Recreation Commission at their request regarding potential park land sites in the City. You will not from the June minutes of the Park & Recreation Commission that they are interested in pursuing discussion of the acquisition of the north 100 feet of the Jackson Street property as well as the acquisition of a walkway easement through the Turnquist property. This Commission indicated that they were not interested in pursuing the Belland/Dennery property nor the Schletty property at this time. The Commission would like to invite the owners of the Jackson Street and Turnquist properties to their next meeting to discuss the potential for acquisition, and have asked that the Council indicate whether or not it would support these acquisitions. Also, you will note from the Commission's discussion that they would like the owner of the lot which is for sale at 3075 Edgerton Street contacted about the possible acquisition by the City for park purposes. Staff is concerned about involving a private property owner when NSP has land adjacent. Your direction is needed. Another direction that the Commission gave staff was to contact NSP regarding their powerline property to determine whether a City acquisition or easement was a possibility for completing the City's trail connection. This includes property both on the west and east sides of Edgerton Street. Staff would ask that Council the Park & Recreation Commission's position on these matters, and authorize staff in this regard. Page 114
