MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
OCTOBER 10, 2013
ADJOURN
Commission's recommendation. Schwalbach and Maleitzke stated that
they supported term limits to be retro- active, or sitting Commissioners to
have two terms count toward term limits. Other Commissioners indicated
no preference.
Maleitzke noted that the Mayor commented earlier this evening that he
had some reservations in the proposal for the Mayor to recommend the
Chair of the Commission with the City Council making the appointment.
The Commission discussed this issue with Barraclough commenting that
he supported the current process wherein the Commission appointed its
own Chair and Vice Chair. Maleitzke stated that she would be fine with
the current process. Fischer noted that it may be difficult for
Commissioners to make nominations for Chair and Vice Chair in
situations where these individuals have held the position for a number of
years. Fischer noted, however, that it was his feeling that the current
Chair and Vice Chair have done an excellent job. However, he felt it
would be beneficial to move these positions around. Schwalbach agreed.
Maleitzke noted that with term limits, this will not be as much of an issue.
There was no Commission consensus on this provision.
Duray recommended that the meeting be adjourned.
Motion seconded by Baraelough.
Motion carried 6 — 0.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 9:15 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Kathy Glang
City Clerk
- 10 -
