MINUTES
Parks & Recreation Commission
June 1, 1995
Remerowski recommended that the proceeds from the sale of
the City property to the Denery property developers be
allocated to the Park Land Acquisition Fund.
Motion seconded by Magnuson.
Motion carried 6 - 0.
1995 BUDGET Johnson asked what home plate helpers were. The Director
ITEMS stated that they eliminate holes being formed at home plate.
Remerowski stated that he felt benches should be installed
at Gervais Mill Park in the near future. He felt that they
could be installed as part of the $5,000 allocated for
Gervais Mill Landscaping.
Remerowski asked if the entire $7,500 was spent for the
Spooner tennis court resurfacing. Sanders stated that the
project is only costing $3,150. Remerowski asked if the
Commission could use the remaining $4,350 to fund other park
items like benches for Gervais Mill Park. Sanders stated
that in the past, the City has carried the extra money over
to the next year. The Director felt that if the Commission
had a specific item that they would like funded this year
with the left over money, they should let the Council know
now instead of waiting until budget time.
Remerowski felt that any money left over from the Spooner
Park tennis court resurfacing should be used to purchase
some benches at Gervais Mill Park. He felt that the benches
would be a nice addition to the park since people could stop
to enjoy the beauty of the park. Johnson felt that benches
are a good idea.
Sanders felt that some of the left over money should be used
to replace the Evergreens that died at the Westwinds Park.
Holm asked what was included in Pioneer Park amenities.
Sanders stated that the amenities included benches and
tables.
Sanders stated that he has obtained some quotes on park
signs. They are as follows:
* Sign with lettering on one side - $1,297
* Sign with lettering on two sides - $1,430
Sanders stated that these prices do not include
installation. He felt that Public Works could easily
install the signs. It was felt that an additional sign
should be added at Gervais Mill Park.
Page 5
