Hanson
Tom Sohrweide, SEI-I, and John Eastham, Ramsey County Sheriff's Department, will be in
attendance at Monday's meeting to present the LaBore Road Traffic Study.
Based on the discussion at the November 13t t Council meeting, I asked Sohrweide the following
questions:
1. Are there any studies to tell us if the speed displays will be effective over time at helping
control speed? (There is concern that if they are always present, some people will simply
ignore them.)
2. If a 4 -way stop existed at Arcade and LaBore, would that be effective in slowing speeds
(heading N /E) at the curve just to the west of Pinetree Court.
3. Please provide more details on the crash data used. There was concern that single vehicle
incidents are not included. For example, there are a number of single vehicle accidents
that have taken out area mailboxes. There was also one where a person hit a tree and
died and another where a structure was struck.
4. Related to #3, if there were "unreported" accidents, might some follow -up with long -time
residents of the area be appropriate to obtain their insight that could be incorporated into
the study.
5. It was noted that the curve area was a "hotspot" before the existence of the
intersection. Does the curve itself warrant more study? How does the intersection
impact that factor?
Sorweide will address these questions at the meeting and will be prepared to answer /comment on
any other questions that may arise.
1
