MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING
PLANNING COMMISSION
LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA
NOVEMBER 14, 2013
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the Planning
Commission of Little Canada, Minnesota was held on the 14th day of
November, 2013 in the Council Chambers of the City Center located at
515 Little Canada Road in said City.
Chair Dan Knudsen called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. and the
following members of the Planning Commission were present at roll call:
PLANNING COMMISSION:
ALSO PRESENT:
Mr. Dan Knudsen
Mr. Scott Barraclough
Mr. Tom Duray
Mr. Tom Fischer
Ms. Jennifer Maleitzke
Ms. Heidi Murphy
Mr. Nick Schwalbach
Mr. Steve Grittman, City Planner
Mr. Kevin Helander, Cable TV
Ms. Kathy Glanzer, City Clerk
MINUTES The October 10, 2013 Planning Commission meeting minutes were
approved as submitted.
OFF -SITE The City Planner reviewed his November 8, 2013 report relative to a
OUTDOOR proposed Text Amendment to the Zoning Code, Section 914,045
STORAGE allowing off -site outdoor storage from Industrial -Park (I -P) District
properties as an interim use on Light - Industrial (I -1) District properties.
The Planner noted that in the I -1 District offsite outdoor storage is already
allowed provided that the storage space is for another Little Canada
business in the 1 -1 District. The Planner also noted that
there is limited outdoor storage allowed on I -P properties, so the
amendment provides the opportunity for I -P property owners to get their
properties in compliance through the ability to rent off -site outdoor storage
space.
Knudsen noted that when off -site outdoor storage was allowed within the
1 -1 District, the thought was to limit this use while allowing an 1 -1
property owner the ability to generate some extra income.
