MINUTES <br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br />JIILY 13, 1995 <br />not comply with the existing ordinance, therefore, <br />adjustments should be made to fit what is happening. <br />Carson reported that the Code Officer has visited <br />businesses in the City to determine what they are doing <br />and how the temporary sign ordinance can address their. <br />needs. <br />Knudsen recommended amending the City's temporary sign <br />ordinance as proposed by the Code Enforcement Officer..: <br />Motion seconded by Reis. <br />Motion carried 7 - 0. <br />COMP PLAN The Planner presented the Commission with additional <br />UPDATE information regarding the Comprehensive Plan update. <br />The Commission was asked to review this information and <br />schedule a workshop to continue the Commission's <br />detailed review of the Plan. <br />It was the consensus of the Commission to hold a <br />workshop on Thursday, September 14th, at 6 P.M. for the <br />purpose of reviewing the Comp Plan update. <br />RAMSEY' Jim Thuer, Ramsey County, appeared before the <br />' COUNTY - Commission reporting that the County is in the process <br />LAND USE of putting together a strategic plan for the entire <br />STRATEGIC County. There are three guiding principles to the <br />PLANNING plan. These are: <br />*To make local government more visible and accountable <br />to the people; <br />*To create more participation and partnership between <br />-citizens and government; and <br />*To improve coordination and efficiency in the delivery <br />of services. <br />Thuer reported that work on the plan began last summer. <br />Citizens and community representatives formed focus <br />groups which met as a first step in forming a vision <br />statement about what services in general would look <br />• like for the community. The next step will be to <br />'develop operational plans this fall. Over 450 citizens <br />participated in the focus groups, and in order to <br />verify the information that came from those citizens, <br />the County is doing a written survey.
