COMP PLAN The Planner presented the Commission with additional UPDATE information regarding the Comprehensive Plan update. The Commission was asked to review this information and schedule a workshop to continue the Commission's detailed review of the Plan. It was the consensus of the Commission to hold a workshop on Thursday, September 14th, at 6 P.M. for the purpose of reviewing the Comp Plan update. RAMSEY' Jim Thuer, Ramsey County, appeared before the ' COUNTY - Commission reporting that the County is in the process LAND USE of putting together a strategic plan for the entire STRATEGIC County. There are three guiding principles to the PLANNING plan. These are: *To make local government more visible and accountable to the people; *To create more participation and partnership between -citizens and government; and *To improve coordination and efficiency in the delivery of services. Thuer reported that work on the plan began last summer. Citizens and community representatives formed focus groups which met as a first step in forming a vision statement about what services in general would look • like for the community. The next step will be to 'develop operational plans this fall. Over 450 citizens participated in the focus groups, and in order to verify the information that came from those citizens, the County is doing a written survey. So far 22,000 4 Page 46
