810. TAXICABS <br />810.010. DEFINITIONS. For the purpose of this Chapter, <br />certain terms and words are defined as follows: <br />1. Taxicab. Any motor vehicle engaged in the carrying of <br />persons for hire; but not to include vehicles subject to <br />control and regulation by the Public Service Commission. <br />2. Street. Any road, street, avenue, boulevard, alley, <br />bridge, lane or other public way in the City. <br />3. Taxicab Driver. The term "driver" shall mean the <br />individual in immediate control of the movement of a <br />taxicab, whether he be the owner or employee operator <br />thereof. <br />4. Operator. Any person, firm, partnership, corporation or <br />association owning or making available for hire one or <br />more taxicabs upon the streets of the City. <br />810.020. LICENSE REQUIRED; EXCEPTION. No operator shall <br />allow any taxicab to operate within the City limits, nor shall any <br />taxicab driver operate within the City limits, without first <br />obtaining the necessary licenses or driver's permits as required by <br />this Chapter. However, any taxicab licensed to operate in any <br />other municipality in this State may carry passengers from said <br />place to any point within the City and may freely enter, use and <br />travel upon the streets thereof for that purpose without the owner <br />or driver of said taxicab obtaining a license, so long as said <br />owner or driver does not solicit or accept passengers within the <br />City or otherwise operate therein. Passenger businesses duly <br />authorized by the Public Service Commission are exempt from this <br />Ordinance. <br />810.030. APPLICATION. Each applicant for a taxicab license <br />or transfer shall apply to the City Clerk upon such forms as are <br />provided by the City and shall completely answer all questions and <br />provide all information required on said forms. An application by <br />an individual shall be signed by him. An application by a <br />partnership shall be signed by each partner, and an application by <br />a corporation or association shall be signed by an officer of said <br />corporation or association. <br />810.040. LICENSE FEE. Taxicab licenses shall be issued for <br />one (1) year at a time with the license year to commence on the <br />date of issuance. The license fee for each vehicle for one (1) <br />year or any part thereof shall be Thirty Five Dollars ($35.00). <br />Each applicant for a license shall deposit Thirty Five Dollars <br />($35.00) at the time of filing the application. <br />810.050.
