April 5, 1995
TO: Mayor Fahey and Members of the City Council
FROM: Kathy Glanzer, Administrative Assistant
RE: Gameroom License Fee
With various license renewals coming up in the next few weeks, it
is necessary to resolve the issue of the City's gameroom license
fee. Earlier this year I did a survey of the surrounding cities
to determine how these cities address the licensing of amusement
devices. The results of this survey are as follows:
Arden Hills -
An annual fee based on number of machines:
1 - $50.00
2 -4 - $100.00
5 -10 - $275.00
11 -15 - $605.00
Over 15 - $900.00
The City does not enforcement or inspections of sites. Fee
simply generates revenue.
Falcon Heights -
An annual fee of $30.00 per machine. No enforcement or
inspections of sites. Fee simply generates revenue.
Maplewood -
An annual fee of $41.00 per machine, plus $160 per location. An
annual inspection to verify number of machines.
Roseville -
An annual fee of $75.00 per machine. An annual inspection to
verify number of machines.
Shoreview -
An annual fee of $75.00 per machine. No enforcement or
inspections of sites. Fee simply generates revenue.
Vadnais Heights -
An annual fee of $38.00 for the first two machines, and $38.00
for each additional machine. No enforcement or inspections of
sites. Fee simply generates revenue.
Page 47
