With a 1:1 slope, you can expect all of the seeding options to have some problems
with erosion until they are fully established. The erosion areas will need to be
repaired and reseeded as they occur.
I am recommending that the top edge of the slope, between the trees and the seeding, be planted with
sumac. I am also recommending the slope be seeded with a combined Short/Dry Prairie Grass Mix
and a Short/Dry Wildflower Mix. The seeding should be carried out by a qualified contractor who
has experience in prairie grass installation. The contract should make provisions for the Contractor
to maintain the seeding, including repairing and reseeding erosion areas, until the plantings are
established.
If you have any questions on the options or recommendations, please give me a call.
Sincerely,
William D. Sanders ASLA
Landscape Architect
:dmn
cc: Angela Popenhagen
Bonestroo Rosene Anderiik
Page 131
