MINUTES
Parks & Recreation Commission
January 5, 1995
CO RD D The Director stated that a developer has recently approached
DEVELOPMENT the City regarding the construction of eight commercial
buildings on County Road D where the Gardner Bros. office is
located. He indicated that the developers were expected to
attend tonight's meeting, but were not present. The
Director stated that the Commission will eventually have to
decide if they would be interested in cash or land for the
park charge on the site.
Remerowski stated that he would want to make sure that the
development would not affect the power line trail system.
He felt that the item should be tabled until the developers
could be present so more information on the development
could be obtained.
Johnson felt that even if the City could not go east with
the power line trail, the City should try to go north to
give the businesses access to Pioneer Park. Holm agreed.
KURK PROPERTY The Director stated that Mrs. Kukk from 89 W. Co. Rd. C
DIVISION wants to divide her property in two in order to sell off a
lot for future construction of a single family home on
® Rosewood Drive. The Director asked the Commission if they
would be interested in cash or land for the park charge on
the lot once it was developed.
Remerowski recommended accepting cash in lieu of land for
the Kukk property division on Rosewood Drive.
Motion seconded by Magnuson.
Motion carried 6 - 0.
PROMOTING Holm stated that he felt the parks and programs in Little
PARKS Canada should be promoted through the use of a calendar with
pictures of the parks which could be sold at City Hall.
Remerowski felt that a promotional item like that should be
mailed out to all residents of the City and this could be
cost prohibitive.
The Director stated that the Friends of the Parks and Trails
just published a booklet on the parks in Ramsey County and
are selling them for $8. He indicated that the booklets
have not been selling and they may have to be given away in
order to achieve the desired distribution.
Johnson suggested featuring a different park each quarter in
the City's newsletter. Remerowski suggested checking into a
colored picture of the parks for use in the newsletter.
VOLLEYBALL Magnuson asked if the sand volleyball court was completed at
Spooner Park. The Director stated that the Public Works
-6- Page 48
