Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jim LaValle
Steve Morelan
Bob Pedersen
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
The City has received quotes from both Press Publications and
Lillie Suburban Newspapers for 1995 legal newspaper designation.
Below is a summary of the quotes:
Press Publications
Minutes $260 /Mo.
Floor Agendas 30 /Mo.
Legal Rate (Both 4.00 /Inch
newspapers are quoting
7 -point type, at 9
lines per inch.)
Due to the fact that the bids reflect a difference of $15 per
month for publication of minutes and floor agendas (a difference
of $180 for the year), I did an analysis of our cost of
publication of legals. During 1994 the City published
approximately 414.75 in legal column inches. At the $4.00 per
inch rate, that cost would amount to $1,659.00, while at the
$3.80 per inch rate the cost is $1,576.05. This is a difference
of $82.95.
Lillie Suburban
$270 /Mo.
35 /Mo.
3.80 /Inch
Based on this analysis, the quote received from Press
Publications is low. However, the deadlines for submission of
items to the two papers is different. Press Publications has a
deadline of Wednesday's at 5 P.M. (extended to Thursday Noon for
emergencies), and Lillie Suburban has a deadline of Thursday's at
5 P.M. (extended to Friday Noon for emergencies). Since annual
publication costs are virtually the same, and given the extended
deadlines, it would be my recommendation that the Legal Newspaper
designation be awarded to Lillie Suburban Newspapers.
Page 1
