CONTRACT FOR FIRE PROTECTION <br />1995 <br />CITY OF LITTLE CANADA <br />RAMSEY COUNTY, MINNESOTA <br />WHEREAS, the City of Little Canada is authorized by law to provide <br />fire protection for all of the property in said City, and <br />WHEREAS, the Little Canada Fire Department, Incorporated, is a <br />volunteer fire department, operating as a non - profit association under the <br />laws of the State of Minnesota and owns certain fire equipment, trucks, <br />etc., for fighting fires, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the City of Little Canada and the Little Canada Fire <br />Department, Incorporated, hereinafter referred to as the City and the Fire <br />Department, respectively, in consideration of the following provisions and <br />covenants, do hereby enter into this contract and agreement on the day and <br />date hereunto subscribed. <br />1. The City hereby engages the services of the Fire Department to <br />answer fire calls and fight fires and generally to provide fire protection <br />to public and private property within the City of Little Canada for a <br />period of one (1) year commencing January 1, 1995, and terminating December <br />31, 1995. <br />2. The Fire Department agrees to answer all fire calls directed to <br />it by the public for assistance in fighting fires of any nature and <br />description within the legal limits of the City. <br />3. The Fire Department will provide First Responder level services <br />in connection with hazardous materials incidents. In addition, the City <br />has contracted with the City of St. Paul to provide response for <br />containment and securing of hazardous materials incidents occurring within <br />the City of Little Canada. The annual fee for this contract will be paid <br />by the City. All costs above and beyond this amount are the responsibility <br />of the City. <br />4. The City agrees to pay to the Fire Department for its services <br />during the period above specified, and the Fire Department agrees to accept <br />as full remuneration for its services during the said period, the sum of <br />$156,893 payable in fourths with the first payment due upon the effective <br />date of this contract. Subsequent payments to be due on April 1st, July <br />1st, and October 1st. <br />5. For 1995, the City shall pay to the Little Canada Volunteer Fire <br />Relief Association a sum equal to $17,160. <br />6. The Fire Department shall furnish the City by March 15th of the <br />year following the current contract an accurate accounting of actual <br />operating expenses for the year just completed. <br />7. The Fire Department shall duly record relevant facts and <br />information regarding each fire or hazardous materials incident to which it <br />-1- <br />Page 7 <br />
