Holidays <br />A. The City observes the following to be official holidays for <br />all permanent full -time and permanent part -time employees: <br />New Year's Day; <br />Martin Luther King's Birthday, <br />The third Monday in January; <br />President's Day, the third <br />Monday in February; <br />Memorial Day, the last Monday in May; <br />Independence Day, July 4th; <br />Labor Day, the first Monday in <br />September; <br />Veterans' Day, November llth; <br />Thanksgiving Day, the fourth <br />Thursday in November; <br />Day after Thanksgiving Day; <br />1/2 Day on Christmas Eve, when Christmas <br />Eve falls on a weekday; <br />Christmas Day, December 25th. <br />B. All official holidays shall be considered to commence at the <br />beginning of the first shift of the day on which the holiday <br />is observed and continue for twenty -four (24) hours <br />thereafter. <br />C. When a holiday falls on a Sunday, the following Monday shall <br />be a holiday and when a holiday falls on a Saturday, the <br />preceding Friday shall be a holiday. <br />D. Permanent part -time employees other than seasonal or <br />temporary will be granted pro -rated holiday pay for each <br />holiday based on the average number of hours worked in the <br />preceding month, and subject to the criteria described above <br />for permanent full -time employees. <br />E. Any regular employee, including permanent part -time, other <br />than the City Administrator, Superintendent of Public Works, <br />and Parks & Recreation Director, who is required to work on <br />any of the above -named holidays, shall be paid for each hour <br />worked on the holiday at their regular rate of pay plus time <br />and one /half. This rate of pay includes the holiday pay <br />referred to above. <br />Examples: A full -time employee who is required to work 4 <br />hours on a holiday would be paid for 4 hours at 2 <br />1/2 times their regular rate of pay and 4 hours <br />at their regular rate of pay; <br />A full -time employee working 8 hours on a holiday <br />would be paid for 8 hours at 2 1/2 times their <br />20 <br />
