OPTIONS
Severance Pay
Severance pay in the amount of fifty (50) percent of the
accumulated sick leave employees have to their credit at the time
of resignation, retirement, or death to a maximum of sixty (60)
days shall be paid to employees or their beneficiary who have
been employed for at least ten (10) consecutive years. If
discharged for cause, severance pay shall not be allowed.
In the case of death of an employee their beneficiary shall be
entitled to any eligible vacation and severance pay benefits.
Additional Holidays
All Day Christmas Eve
Floating Holiday
Funeral Leave
Paid time off may be granted, up to a maximum of three days, in
the event a regular employee suffers a death in his or her
immediate family in accordance with the provisions of this
section. Additional time off without pay, or sick leave if
available and requested in advance, will be granted as may
reasonably be required under individual circumstances, subject to
the approval of the City Administrator.
Immediate family (for purposes of this section) is defined as an
employee's parent, step - parent, spouse, child, step - child,
brother, sister, step- brother, step- sister, grandparent,
grandchild, spouse's parent or member of the immediate household.
Trade Unused Sick Leave for Health Club Membership
The City will allow employees to use accumulated sick leave to
pay for health club memberships provided that the employee
maintains a sick leave balance of a minimum of eighty hours at
all times. The amount of sick leave that may be used for health
club membership may not exceed six hours each month or be valued
at more than $40.00. The membership must be with a health club
that offers a diverse number of exercise activities (i.e.,
swimming, weight training, aerobics, exercise machines, tennis,
racquetball, to name a few). Golf, tennis, or racquetball club
memberships or lessons, martial arts or other special skill
activities are not eligible activities as they do not provide
exercise program characteristics that health clubs, such as U.S.
Swim & Fitness Centers, the YMCA or YWCA, Northwest Racquet, Swim
& Health Clubs, and other similar clubs provide.
PAGE 54
