Hanson, City Administrator
RE: Canadian Days Fire Works
MAYOR
Michael I. Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jim LaVaile
Steve Morelan
Bob Pedersen
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R Hanson
1991 was the last year the City of Little Canada contracted for
fire works display at the Canadian Days celebration. This was
necessary due to objections raised by the Fire Chief and to
control some risk management issues relative to insurance. Not
only did we obtain insurance from the fire works display
contractor, but we also purchased a rider on the City's insurance
policy for $250.00 to remove the fire works exclusion from our
general liability coverage.
I am assuming the same actions will be necessary again this year
if the fire works display is to be held in Spooner Park. I have
been discussing this matter with the Canadian Days Committee and
pending no new developments, the Council should authorize me to
make the same arrangements as were done in 1991.
Canadian Days is requesting $5,000 in fire works of which $4,000
is from the 10% Budget and $1,000 will be reimbursed to us prior
to purchase. I will proceed on this basis unless directed
otherwise.
cc: Mary Jo Farrel
Page 74
