` 4 O 29d/4 cKe e Beek
515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600
(612) 484 -2177 / FAX: (612) 484 -4538
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Fahey & Members of the City Council
FROM: Joel Hanson, City Administrator
DATE: March 17, 1995
RE: Keller Parkway Update
MAYOR
Michael 1. Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jim LaValle
Steve Morelan
Bob Pedersen
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
Council Member Scalze called me on Thursday afternoon to inform
me that Maplewood City Council had voted down the shoulder paving
project on Keller Parkway by a 4 to 1 vote. Apparently, their
chief concern was the speed issue as relayed to them by affected
property owners.
I attempted to contact Ken Haider, Maplewood Public Works
Director, to find out exactly where they are with this process.
However, he was on vacation today. I will attempt to contact him
on Monday.
It is my understanding that we could still have paved shoulders
in the Little Canada portion of the project (Edgerton to Arcade).
They would then become gravel shoulders from Arcade around the
east side of Lake Gervais if Maplewood's decision stands.
The Council may want to discuss this matter further at
Wednesday's meeting. In the meantime, I will attempt to
ascertain where the project is at from Maplewood's and Ramsey
County's perspective.
JRH:kpv
Page 72
