cedfr a Yet/4 Wyeneae
515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600
(612) 484 -2177 / FAX: (612) 484 -4538
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Fahey & Members of the City Council
FROM: Joel Hanson, City Administrator
DATE: May 19, 1995
RE: Shoreview Ordinance
MAYOR
Michael I. Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jim LaValle
Steve Morel=
Bob Pedersen
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
Representatives from the Ramsey County Sheriff's Department have
requested that Little Canada adopt an ordinance which would give
the Sheriff's Department authority to issue citations on private
property. This ordinance would address issues such as traffic
enforcement including unlicensed vehicles in apartment complex
parking lots and trailer parks. Shoreview has an ordinance (copy
attached) that provides this authority and the Sheriff's
Department feels this will enhance law enforcement efforts by
allowing them to gain a better handle on activity within these
areas.
If you are comfortable with this concept, it would be my
recommendation that we direct the City Attorney to evaluate
Shoreview's ordinance and prepare a draft for our consideration.
JRH:kpv
cc: Deputy Commander John Luey, RCSD
Page 89
