MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
APRIL 9, 2014
Corbett noted that as the drawings are completed, they will be able to put
together very accurate cost estimates within a percentage or two of what
bids will be. Oertel indicated that the majority of the Architect's work
will be done before the advertisement for bids. He also indicated that if
the bids come in high, there is still the opportunity to review the project
for additional cost reductions to bring it in at the target budget. Oertel
noted that there are the options of shelving the project, or making changes
and rebidding.
Naughton stated that as a taxpayer in the City he would like to see this
project move forward. He indicated that the project will be brought in
within budget. Naughton felt that shelving the project will not be good for
the City, and indicated that this facility is needed. Naughton stated that
he could guarantee that if the project is bid next year it will cost 5% to
10% more.
The Council discussed the options to reduce the square footage in the
northeast corner of the building as well as combining the wash bay and
mechanics bay. The consensus was to not implement these cost
reductions. Blesener indicated that the Council will take formal action on
this project at its regular meeting this evening.
ADJOURN There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:15 p.m.
Attes
it"?
Joel
William files er, Mayor
anson, City Administrator
8
