MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION <br />LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA <br />MAY 1, 2014 <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the Parks & <br />Recreation Commission of the City of Little Canada, Minnesota, was held <br />on the 1st day of May, 2014, in the Council Chambers of the City Center <br />located at 515 Little Canada Road East in said city. <br />Chair Patti Sullivan called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. and the <br />following members of the commission were present: <br />MEMBERS PRESENT: <br />ABSENT: <br />ALSO PRESENT: <br />Ms. Patti Sullivan <br />Mr. Jeff Heikke <br />Mr. Tom Maida <br />Mr. Kevin Steinert <br />Mr. Kong Vang <br />Ms. Linda Fahey <br />Mr. Dave Miller <br />Mr. Jim Morelan, Parks & Rec Dir. <br />Mr. Bill Sanders, Parks Consultant <br />Mr. Kevin Helander, Cable TV Prod. <br />Ms. Kathy Glanzer, City Clerk <br />MINUTES The Commission unanimously approved the minutes of the April 3, 2014 <br />meeting. <br />ARBOR DAY The Director reported that due to a scheduling conflict with one of the <br />CELEBRATION schools, the Arbor Day Celebration has been rescheduled to Tuesday, <br />May 6, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Spooner Park. The Director indicated that the <br />celebration will be filmed and programmed for viewing on the City's <br />cable channel. <br />LEAH The Director noted that as part of the parks tour, the Commission was <br />BROECHER to look at possible locations for Spooner Park improvements that could be <br />DONATION funded with the Leah Broecher Estate donation. Given the tour was <br />cancelled due to wet conditions, the Director suggested that the discussion <br />he tabled until the next meeting. <br />Sanders suggested that an interpretive sign and bench could be installed <br />along the creek. The sign could include information on plant materials, <br />wildlife, and the function of the creek. Sanders reported that he contacted <br />the Watershed to see if they would be interested in participating in the <br />interpretive sign, and he is waiting for a call back. <br />
