MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA MAY 1, 2014 Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the Parks & Recreation Commission of the City of Little Canada, Minnesota, was held on the 1st day of May, 2014, in the Council Chambers of the City Center located at 515 Little Canada Road East in said city. Chair Patti Sullivan called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. and the following members of the commission were present: MEMBERS PRESENT: ABSENT: ALSO PRESENT: Ms. Patti Sullivan Mr. Jeff Heikke Mr. Tom Maida Mr. Kevin Steinert Mr. Kong Vang Ms. Linda Fahey Mr. Dave Miller Mr. Jim Morelan, Parks & Rec Dir. Mr. Bill Sanders, Parks Consultant Mr. Kevin Helander, Cable TV Prod. Ms. Kathy Glanzer, City Clerk MINUTES The Commission unanimously approved the minutes of the April 3, 2014 meeting. ARBOR DAY The Director reported that due to a scheduling conflict with one of the CELEBRATION schools, the Arbor Day Celebration has been rescheduled to Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Spooner Park. The Director indicated that the celebration will be filmed and programmed for viewing on the City's cable channel. LEAH The Director noted that as part of the parks tour, the Commission was BROECHER to look at possible locations for Spooner Park improvements that could be DONATION funded with the Leah Broecher Estate donation. Given the tour was cancelled due to wet conditions, the Director suggested that the discussion he tabled until the next meeting. Sanders suggested that an interpretive sign and bench could be installed along the creek. The sign could include information on plant materials, wildlife, and the function of the creek. Sanders reported that he contacted the Watershed to see if they would be interested in participating in the interpretive sign, and he is waiting for a call back.
