515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117 -1.600
(651) 766 -4029 / FAX: (651) 766 -4048
w ww.ci.1 i ttle- cunada.mn. us
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Blesener & Members of the City Council
FROM: Joel Hanson, City Administrator
DATE: May 9, 2014
RE: City Hall Remodeling Projcct
MAYOR
13111 131esener
COUNCIL,
Rick Montour
John Keis
Michael McGraw
Shelly Boss
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
Planning is starting to commence on the remodeling work for City Hall. James Steele
Construction has suggested that a number of our work items could be addressed by them
on a time & material basis (see letter dated 2/10/14 attached). These items would include
sheet rock repairs, bathroom Door tile repairs, exterior siding corrections, cabinet repairs,
door adjustments, and other miscellaneous items (see Oertel letter dated 1/14/14 for more
information on the needed work items). The hourly rate would be $85 and work will be
performed by the Project Superintendent, Mary Schauer.
Staff feels this is an efficient way to accomplish a number of tasks for this project in an
efficient manner. Another advantage to this approach is Mr. Schauer would gain
firsthand knowledge of the building that should he useful in overseeing other project
components as the remodeling moves forward.
Therefore, staff recommends we retain Mary Schauer of JSC at an hourly rate of $85 to
assist with City Hall remodeling work for those components mutually agreed to by JCS
and staff.
