MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />APRIL 25, 2007 <br />REVIEW OFA REVISED LANDSCAPE PLAN TO INCLUDE <br />TALLER SCREENING PLANTINGS TO SOFTEN THE <br />APPEARANCE OF THE SERVICE DOORS ON THE RICE STREET <br />SIDE OF THE BUILDING <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Blesener. <br />Ayes (4). <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />OASIS The City Administrator indicated that the City may be closing on the Oasis <br />PROPERTY property as early as Monday. This property is being acquired to assist in <br />the realignment of Viking Drive to connect with Minnesota Avenue. A <br />portion of the McDonalds property will be h•aded to the City for Viking <br />Drive road right-of--way in exchange for a portion of the Oasis site. The <br />Administrator indicated that the existing Viking Drive connection at Rice <br />Street will be eliminated. This new connection will better control traffic <br />and help congestion near the Rice Street bridge over Highway 36. The <br />Administrator reported that the County is very supportive of the Viking <br />Drive realignment. <br />Blesener noted that the City has also purchased two homes along Viking <br />Drive to assist in the road realignment. These homes were already up for <br />sale. Once the realignment is completed, the City will be left with a large <br />enough parcel that can be sold for redevelopment. <br />The City Administrator anticipated that bids on the Viking Drive <br />realignment will be awarded on May 9`~', and that the road work will start <br />by the end of May. <br />CUPS, The City Administrator reported that Hom Furniture has requested that <br />TEXT action on their applications be tabled until the May 9, 2007 Council <br />AMENDMENTS, meeting. It was also noted that Hom Furniture has withdrawn their <br />AND VARIANCE -requests for a Text Amendment allowing electronic signage as well as <br />3201 COUNTRY a Variance for freestanding sign heights. <br />DRIVE - <br />HOM Allan introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />FURNITURE <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2007-9-97 -TABLING ACTION ON HOM <br />FURNITURE'S REQUEST FOR TEXT AMENDMENT ALLOWING <br />FURNITURE TETAIL AND OTHER RETAIL USES COMPATIBLE <br />WITH FURNITURE SALES IN THE B-W DISTRICT, <br />CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT FOR PROOF OF PARKING, AND <br />CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT FOR COMPREHENSIVE SIGN PLAN <br />AND CONTINUING THE PUBLIC HEARING ON SAME UNTIL <br />12 <br />
