June 12, 2014
To Whom It May Concern:
It has come to my attention that my neighbor to the north, Mayhem Properties, is requesting a variance
to put a monument sign on their property line instead of the 5' set back. I fully support that you grant
them this variance.
I purchased the building at 235 Little Canada Road back in 2000 and it is now the Porterhouse Steak &
Seafood Restaurant. As you know, we have completely remodeled the building, installed new
signage, repaired the parking lot, and created new landscaping to beautify this area of Little
Canada.
Mayhem Properties is doing the same thing. They purchased that old office building and have done
many upgrades including adding lighting, stone work, and new landscaping. They are trying to improve
the look of their building which will improve the customer experience for our customers, too. I agree
with Mayhem Properties that a sign set back 10' from the sidewalk would be poorly visible from the
street and agree that having it 5' off the sidewalk is more attractive.
If you have any questions, or would like to discuss this further with me, please feel free to call me at
651.644.2778
Sincerely,
Kevin Schleif
SCI
1611 Larpenteur Ave
Falcon Height, MN 55113
