MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION <br />LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA <br />AUGUST 7, 2014 <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the Parks & <br />Recreation Commission of the City of Little Canada, Minnesota, was held <br />on the 7th day of August, 2014, in the Council Chambers of the City <br />Center located at 515 Little Canada Road East in said city. <br />Chair Patti Sullivan called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. and the <br />following members of the commission were present: <br />MEMBERS PRESENT: <br />Ms. Patti Sullivan <br />Ms. Linda Fahey <br />Mr. Jeff IIeikke <br />Mr. Tom Maida <br />Mr. Dave Miller <br />Mr. Kong Vang (arr. 6:48 p.m.) <br />ABSENT: Mr. Kevin Steinert <br />ALSO PRESENT: Mr. Jim Morelan, Parks & Rec Dir. <br />Mr. Bill Sanders, Parks Consultant <br />Mr. Kevin I3elander, Cable TV Prod. <br />Ms. Kathy Glanzer, City Clerk <br />MINUTES The Commission unanimously approved the minutes of the June 5, 2014 <br />meeting. <br />NOEL DRIVE The Parks & Recreation Director reported that consideration is being <br />SIDEWALK given to installing a sidewalk along Noel Drive from Little Canada Road <br />to Gervais Mill Park and perhaps as far as the trail entrance to Spooner <br />Park along the creek. This discussion came about as part of the Little <br />Canada Road improvement. The Director noted that the City recently <br />repaired a valve for the water tower as well as added a fire hydrant in the <br />location where this sidewalk would be installed. There are also two <br />retaining walls along this stretch. Given the location of the fire hydrant, it <br />is being proposed that the sidewalk be installed in the elevated area <br />between the two retaining walls. The Director was not sure that placing <br />the sidewalk in that area would meet handicapped accessibility standards. <br />The Parks Consultant indicated that his preference would be to see the <br />sidewalk installed at street level. The Director noted that one problem is <br />the Location of the new fire hydrant. The Parks Consultant suggested that <br />perhaps the lower retaining wall could be jogged inward to provide area <br />for the sidewalk to jog around the fire hydrant. The Parks Consultant felt <br />that a sidewalk connecting Little Canada Road to Gervais Mill Park <br />1 <br />
