!RING liSSO(IAT S DC Mil Memo TO: Honorable Mayor & City Council Members FROM: Lee Elfering, City Engineer DATE: September 18, 2014 RE: Final Payment Tower Valve Replacement & New Hydrant Please find attached an invoice from C.W. Houle for the replacement of the water tower valve and installation of a sampling hydrant on the water tower lead. The old valve did not isolate the tower completely during the painting project this summer and Houle was the low bid Contractor for the replacement work. Due to the slope of the water line to the tower the new valve and hydrant were placed on the street side of the old valve. This location required shutting down a portion of the City mains in the area to complete the work. While City staff was able to shut the mains down there was some crew time lost waiting. It was agreed that an additional hour of crew time would be paid for the delay. Restoration was not included in the proposed work as we anticipate having the disturbance area seeded by the restoration contractor completing the work on Schletty Drive. We have inspected the work performed by C.W. Houle and recommend payment of the invoice for $27,805.00 as full payment for the work completed.
