addition, having two mowers working during spring and fall clean up should greatly
reduce the time spent on that task each year.
There are times that the leaves and grass will need to be dumped on the ground and there
are other areas that staff cleans up that would be much easier to finish with a debris
picker vacuum. A debris picker vacuum attaches to the bumper of a truck and sucks
material from the ground and deposits it into the truck dump box. It is essentially a
smaller version of the leaf pickers the City of Roseville uses for picking up leaves. This
one would be used to quickly pick up piles of leaves and grass so they can be transported
to dump sites.
Since the Trac -Vac is out of commission staff is recommending purchasing the mower,
the bagging implements, and the debris picker as soon as possible so that they can be
used this fall for cleanup.
The cost for each piece of equipment is as follows:
Bobcat Z -turn mower:
12 -Bushel Dumping Bin:
12 -Bushel Bagging Unit:
Little Wonder Debris Picker:
$9,337.60
$2,799.20
$2,319.20
$4,250.00
The total cost of all equipment is $18,706.00. The Trac -Vac was scheduled to he
replaced in 2017 at a cost of $5,000. The bagger and bin are just over $5,000 combined.
The second Z -turn mower and the debris picker are not budgeted items, but are necessary
with the new yard waste collection procedures, which have been designed for efficiency
and safety.
Staff expects to sell the walk behind mower for approximately $1000 and the Trac -Vac
will be sold either as a whole or in parts depending on interest. It is unknown what it is
worth.
