Alexander Davison
57 Old County Road C
Little Canada MN, 55117
(651) 890-2706
davi2022@umn.edu
November 24, 2014
To whom it may concern:
I am writing to you because I am interested in being on the Planning Commission for the City of
Little Canada. I am currently an upcoming senior at the University of Minnesota, studying Urban
Studies with a minor in Geography (with an emphasis in GIS). I also have just recently completed
an Associate of Arts degree at Anoka -Ramsey Community College. I am currently employed at the
Borchert Map Library at the University of Minnesota, working as a desk assistant. I do not have any
courses in the Spring nor do I work past 5 pm on Thursdays, which would allow me to be available
for the monthly commission meetings.
I believe that I have the experience necessary as the majority of my courses at the University of
Minnesota focused on many aspects of planning, ranging from the municipal to federal levels. I
have studied zoning and regulations before in many various Urban Studies and Geography courses
both at the University of Minnesota and Minnesota State University, Mankato. I currently am taking
a graduate -level course with the former mayor of Minneapolis (R.T. Rybak), where I have learnt
about how the planning process works regarding proposed developments. I, am also a lifelong
resident of Little Canada, so I am well -aware of the city and its recent and future planned goals
through the city's comprehensive plan. I plan to continue being a resident of the city after my
graduation, and I hope that I can be part of the planning process in order to make sure that the city
can continue to grow and. prosper.
For any additional information and a more detailed report of my past employment history, I have
attached my resume to this application. If I do fit your qualifications, I would be pleased if I am
selected to be on the Planning Commission. You can either contact me via email or my cell phone
number, and I will try my best to respond to you as soon as possible. I would be glad to provide
any additional information if needed. Thank you for your considering my application for this
position.
Sincerely,
Alexander Davison
5
